I am doing a frame off and want to put my front springs in and need some weight on the front to be able to jack up the lower control arm without lifting the whole frame. I was thinking of sandbags, any other ideas?

After much consideration, I decided to bolt my finished frame back up to the car with the new fuel line and body mounts installed so I could take advantage of the body's weight to install my front control arms. Otherwise, I'd throw a control arm party, provide snacks and refreshments and get 6 or seven of your buddies to sit on it. ;)

Simple! Back a truck or some type of vehicle that is high enough over the front of the frame. Good luck

Route a chain under the jack, and then over the top of the frame so when you jack up the lower control arm the chain holds the frame down. If you want pics of how I did it, let me know.

I ran a 2x4 cripple to the sheetrock on the ceiling. Use a sreader between the rafters so you don't push the 2x4 through the sheetrock.

I installed my springs (65 chevelle) with the body off and engine out like this. After you fit the spring in place, use your floor jack to push up the spindle end and hold it in place. Then drop a half inch threaded rod in the hole where the shock goes. Put a nut on it. On the botom of the A arm where the rod sticks out (this is where the bottom of the shock bolts), use an angle iron or heavy plate washer with a hole and put the rod thru that, install a nut, and crank either the top or bottom nut. It will compress the spring and bring the ball joints to the spindle. I used this threaded rod technique to install new spindles on my 69 cutlas also last month.
