Can someone give me a suggestion as to what might be causing the front end to squeak when you push down on the front fender? Sometimes you can hear the squeak going over a bump in the road. I thought maybe I had a bad shock, but after replacing all 4 shocks (needed to be done regardless)and lubing the front end the noise is still there.

My car sqeaked for along time (like 5 years) when you pushed down on the fender. I replaced balljoints, springs, shocks, & control arm bushings with polygraphite. I think what got rid of the sqeak was the bushings, i had one almost totally gone that was rubbing metal on metal.
NOT 100% sure what did it for me but after i replaced all of that it went away graemlins/hurray.gif

Gumball is right. The control arm bushings on A-bodies are infamous for squeaking. I'm currently looking to replace mine as well. They usually squeak in the cold. I'd say get them replaced with some polygraphite bushings because they are better than stock and don't fall apart over time.
Hope this helps :D

I have had the same problem on my '72 Chevelle. I found the problem to be the stabilizer bar and where it mounts to the frame. I have completely rebuilt the front end with polygraphite and much to my satisfaction the car drives like a dream. I just completed a 2200 mile round trip to Ca. from Utah. When I returned home, I removed the brackets applied some grease compatible with the polygraphite and the squeak is gone.

Just another vote for A-arm the bushings. So, seeing how I'm at work right now, it's nap time.

I would bet it is the control arm bushings.Try shooting some Tri Flow or DW 40 into the bushings, If that shuts them up..... that is the problem. (At least that did it for my car) graemlins/beers.gif
