'69 396-Putting Power Steering on it (NOTE: This is a "Conversion", therefore there is NO existing pump to swap fitting.)

Remfg'd Pump, new hoses (Advance Auto)

NO FITTING on back of pump for pressure line.

There was an insert talking about making sure the O-ring was used, and hole was clear, so it appears there is a valve, etc. involved.

Any info on what this fitting is, and where I'd buy it?

Thanks.

If you have your old pump you can use the fitting (valve) from it. If you don't have your old pump you are going to need to see if you can order it from the same place as you bought the pump. The bone yard is your other option but the valve also comes in metric in the newer vehicles so you will need to be carefull to get the right one. Also the valve controls pressure if I'm not mistaken so it is somewhat vehicle specific.

The last pump I bought had the valve (fitting ) in it. This makes me wonder if yours should of also come with the valve in it. You might want to check.

Good Luck

These are the parts you will need to go in that hole in the pump. They are shown in order of assembly. Notice the 2 grooves in the fitting, one has a hole one doesn't, the O ring goes in the one without the hole, if you cover the hole it won't work.

Thanks for the photo!!! Criminy.... Looks like I'm missing more than I realized...

GM says part is discontinued. I went to junkyard and found a '69 Buick pump.

Addendum: Fitting I removed is MALE from yard pump, whereas the fitting in the picture is a FEMALE. I think I've seen some posts on converting. I'll search again.

Again, thanks. A picture is worth a thousand posts.....
