We are converting a 68 chevelle from auto to manual tranny, and we have a Saginaw 4 speed. What is or who makes a decent basic shifter and linkage that will bolt right up to the tranny without having to use a universal kit?

And also we need a drive shaft this is a 2 door car what would the length be or are there other car options that would have the same length drive shaft that I could find.

Thanks

Hurst makes a shifter for the trans in your car, with or without a console.

Thanks I think I seen the shifter on the net only I could only find 3 speed stuff if I remember right, I am not that familiar with manual shifters, I have seen stock factory shifter and it bolts on the rear of the tranny through bolt holes on the shifter. Looking at the Hurst shifter pictures I couldn't tell if it is a direct bolt on or If it uses a adapter plate. Sorry seems like dumb questions, but since were are converting from auto to manual I want to make sure and get things right.
We have the pedal assembly, steering column already now we need the shifter and linkage as well as the clutch z bar type bracket.
thanks for the info

buy the hurst fir the saginaw and you will get all you need. if you already have a hurst shifter all you will need is the installation kit for a saginaw.

If you're looking for a something cheap, check the junkyards for an early 80's Dodge or GM 1/2 ton truck with the 4spd OD transmission. These use a factory Hurst shifter. Not sure if anything's different from the aftermarket Hurst Competition shifter, but they sure look the same. Plus, they're American made, which the new Hurst shifters apparently aren't.
