: valve covers?

ok how do i know if i have repo valve covers or the real thing? i was reading about somthing like drippers but i have no idea what those are. any help?

Here you go, Larry. The circled items are the drippers. The X marks the baffle. Some repros have the drippers and some don't. The drippers drip the flung oil back onto the rocker balls for better lubrication.

I'm not exactly sure how to tell repros from factory - the factory ones did have dimples on the top of the v/c where the dripper rails are spotwelded on.

If it's a really crappy chrome plating and lot's of dimples and wrinkles from the spot welds it's probably original. If it has nice chrome plating and is pretty smooth it's probably not original. GM didn't spend a lot on the originals and they look like it.

it has wrinkles in the chrome plating they look old they were on my 69 chevelle when i bought it.

Depends on their condition ... put 'em up on ePay and see what you get.

Larry, you mention they are for a 69. Does the driver's side cover have a little chrome clip located as per the attached picture? That is for the temperature sending unit wire. Original covers had this and the majority of cheap repos do not. There is an expensive, high quality repo that does have it. Hope this helps.

yes it does have the clip located on the side thanks guys i dont know what i would do without this site
