I just sandblasted four rally wheels and grabbed the wrong can when I went to primer them. I ended up painting them with gray rustoleum paint instead of gray primer.

Do I have to re-sandblast my wheels again or can I do something to fix my stupidity? What's the purpose of primer exactly versus paint?

Help..

thanks

I would reblast and primer them, it will go quick on the blasting the second time around, plus you won't be wondering or looking at the wheels like when is this stuff going to peel.:D

Not sure but, I believe Rustoleum is a direct to metal paint.
Still, I would recommend removing what you've put on. I'm sure that lacquer thinner and steel wool (or scratch pads) would take that stuff off quite easily.
An etch primer would probably be a better choice for your application, also.

crap. I knew you guys would say that so I went down and re-sandblasted everything. It only took about an hour. So not too bad. They're already primed and painted black awaiting silver fronts. Whenever I get the correct paint. thanks for all the help. CC
