I have an older Coleman Air compressor. I wanna say 20 gallon 5hp. It works great but the lines get very hot. If you go to try and release the hose it will burn the crap out of you. This is also causing problems for my hoses as they get heated, turn very soft, then the crimped fitting lets go. The regulator that it had mounted on it also took a dump when it got hot. So now I have an inline regulator. Any ideas on what to do? Im thinking about running a pipe out a couple of inches but am afraid that it will vibrate and cause other problems.

Not familiar with this one... does it have oil in it or is it oil-less? Is is summer..... (except in Latrobe, Pa...)

I am unsure if it takes oil or not, I will check next time im at the shop. It gets around 100 during the day but it was blowing the hoses apart when it was around 70 degrees.

I had my craftsman compressor get hot running my sand blast cabinet during warm weather. It was running constantly trying to keep up with the demand of blasting. My compressor wasn't that old and never used hard.I think that the friction of running generated the heat running that hard.If your running yours that it can't keep up with demand time to upgrade to a 60 gal.

What's the duty cycle rating? First Guess: it's too small, runs all the time, and as a result it's overheating.

Second Guess: Desperately in need of maintenance.

I have a 60 gallon Husky that I purchased from Home depot and have run my sand blaster many times for extensive periods of time and have had zero problems with heating. My only issue now is I need a better evaperator to rid the moisture a little more effeciently.
