I bought the console shifter kit to convert it from a column shifter to a floor shifter. Everything was going smoothly until i tried to hook the shifter cable up, it is just to long. Did i somehow put it in wrong? Did i order the wrong part? Is their anyway to shorten or reroute the cable? Any help is greatly appreciated.

What year? Factory style shifter? How is the cable currently routed?

It is a 71, horseshoe shifter style right out the catalog and i put it through the floor and then ran it along the side of the transmission

Is the cable too long between the shifter & trans mounting bracket or between the trans mounting bracket & the trans shift selector shaft/bracket?

It is too long between the shifter and the mounting bracket
