i recently bought what is supposed to be a 138 vin 67. ive heard and read on here that there is a vin or partial vin stamped somewhere under the dash. i bought this car as a body only so there is no interior or anything on the inside. i've looked everywhere and cannot find any numbers under the dash area. can you guys tell me exactly where i need to look or show me a picture?. Do the 136 cars have this set of numbers as well?

My Atlanta built car has a CONVIN located under the cowl and stamped onto the top of the firewall on the right side. Some find this stamped under the heater box on the firewall.
Should match your VIN tag on the door jamb.
Best of luck. Let us know what you find.

still no luck finding my convin. do you guys have any pics? this car is also a fremont car. the frame numbers do match the vin on the door tag so i know the car is a true 138. did all of these cars have a convin?

When you say the frame number do match the VIN plate on the door I assume you mean the numbers on top of the frame rail such 7Z123456? If so, that's your partial VIN (or CON[cealed] VIN).

ok thanks dale. i was talking about the numbers on top of the frame rail, but i thought there was another convin on the body as well. so its either on the frame or the body, and not both? i also have a kansas 67 malibu that has the numbers on the frame, but i cant find a convin on the body.

I had completely stripped my 66 Elky---also a Fremont car

There was no vin on any body part of that car anywhere. (other than vin plate)
only on 2 different places on the frame

Partial under the driver door-----and the left rear frame channel

The one under the driver door was stamped on a convex surface---not real clear, but is there.
The one on the rear channel (top) was clear as a bell------along with the
AOSmith number and date on the side of the channel

Thanks, Brian. Unaware that Fremont stamped one under the door area.

The body mount would be just to the left of this pic----under the front seat/door area

This would be looking at the left rear frame rail from where the gas tank should be.
(the left rear tire is to the right of the pic)

my fremont ss hardtop doesnt have a number on the frame near the door area. only at the rear. wonder if its an elky thing?Could be...how close is yours to the El Camino above? Sequence 156909 appears to be early-to-mid July or so.

{EDIT} Oops, yours is a 67...:clonk: Could be a 66-thing and not an El Camino-thing.

Frame is stamped ----7 7 66--------is a 7B car

I stand to be corrected. Upon further cleaning and a little better light I did find the second stamping right where yours is. Its actually more legible than the convin on the rear. I apologize for posting false information and will edit my previous post to avoid confusion.
