Was at the Junkyard getting spindles for the 12" brake conversion and there was a 1989 Caprice station wagon... it had the 12" front brakes on it, 11" rear drum brakes and while i was there i checked out how many turns the wheel was, it ended up being 3 turns lock to lock... is there any chance that a station wagon would have the quick ratio box in it

I thought the quick ratio box was 2.5 turns lock to lock. I could be wrong. I think the zq8 truck box is 2.5 turns.

Anyone else care to chime in?

The number of turns lock to lock is no guarentee of which ratio is inside the box. There is a CHANCE that it is a quick ratio box, but it is most likely not.

If you can, look at the top of the box for a grease stamping or sticker with a two character alpha code on it. For the 12.7:1 quick ratio box, the code would be "WZ" or "CP"

If that code is not present or unreadable, check with the RPO codes listed on the sticker either in the trunk or the glove box. Cars with the options FE2 or F41 in that year got the 12:7:1 power steering box.
