HI Eveyone,

My "69 Chevelle's original engine was replaced a long time ago with a 454. The engine has been in the car at least since 1992 and is still running very strong. However, it's beginning to burn oil so I'm thinking when the time comes to replace it I would like to get a 396 block.

Around how much money would I spend for a good rebuildable late '68 4-bolt 396 engine block?

Prices will vary greatly on 396 blocks depending on what you buy (short block, long block, bare block) and a 4 bolt main block will also cost you more. If you didn't want to be specific about year and would buy a 2 bolt main block I would say you will spend less money. Another issue is buying one close enough to pick up. Start looking and compare prices and eventually you'll find the right deal.
