Hey everyone.....I had a TCI SFI 29.1 Flexplate on my Small Block 350 that I pulled out of the car and was wanting to use it on my Big Block. The holes line up and it is the same teeth as a stock one however I think I read somewhere that you CANNOT do this. Is this true? I mean it fits perfectly and looks nice...LOL. Is it a balance issue?

Thanks again for the help.

As long as the big block is internally balanced yes. 396 and 427's were internal, 454 was external factory.

I used the 153t unit that came off my 307 and put it on my 402.

Unfortunately....well not unfortunately ......it is a 454. ;-) So it must be externally balanced. If I put the TCI Flexplate on, I am assuming my engine will vibrate all over the place??

 You'll break something. You need the flywheel with the weight on it.

you cant use it, like said, if the 454 is ext balanced-they make 2 diff size flywheels, both can be used on either engine with a starter change, dep. on balance condition
get a new flywheel, shim the starter
