: Lowering Questions.
BW72 Jun 11th, 04, 2:33 AM I followed a white 72 SS 'velle up over Cannon St. in Anaheim Hills 2 days ago and liked his stance. It made me consider lowering my 72 velle. I wanted to catch up with him and ask him what his setup was, but never got the chance.
Anyway, I looked around in here and found that most people say to avoid the 3" drop (which is what I think he had).
I'm considering 2" coil drop all around. I'm running 15x7" Corvette (I think) rallys with 235/60 R15s (not sure of the backspacing). Would this cause rubbing or other problems? Would 2" be too low for this setup? I'm considering increasing rim and tire width in the rear eventually as well, but not for a while.
My exhaust won't be an issue, I'm going to put manifolds back on and new exaust piping until I can get some short headers.
Thanks guys!
jocww Jun 11th, 04, 5:08 AM i did a 2in drop on springs and it sits ok. havent driven it so i dont know the real height.
ZZ69chevelle Jun 11th, 04, 7:17 AM I dropped mine 2" and don't have any rubbing issues with 235/60/15's in the front and 275/60/15's in the back. It could be affected by your backspacing though.
kamino69er Jun 11th, 04, 10:49 AM I used the 2" drop spring from OPG and 17x8 wheels. No rubbing!

BW72 Jun 11th, 04, 11:42 AM Thanks guys, just what I wanted to know!
The rallys I'm running are original corvette rallies I believe (4.5" backspacing??) and I haven't had the opportunity to check their backspacing. I'm going to have to do that. :D
"kamino", nice ride! I was hoping someone would post a pic with a 2" drop so I could see what it looks like. Is there much difference in appearance/height between a 69 and the 70-72's with the same drop?
Clint44 Jun 11th, 04, 4:01 PM 2" drop springs will work fine but if you want a lower front ride height, those 235/60's are a little tall.
Bacchus Jun 11th, 04, 7:35 PM Kamino, that stance is BAD! I like. What size tires are you running?
kev69350 Jun 11th, 04, 9:34 PM hey Kamino,
using the opg springs, how does it ride??????
have you had a chance to ride in one with hotchkis springs????
if so, can you tell a difference from your car to the other?????
thanks,
Kevin
69chevelle69 Jun 12th, 04, 6:03 PM if you say 235 60s are too high for a lower stance what would you suggest; a 50 series tire?
doggy69 Jun 12th, 04, 10:48 PM So nice, kamino.

Rear springs are sagging a bit. In this pic the trunk was full with travel gear. I have full length Dyno-Max headers, and have MAJOR clearance issues with the drivers side header. 235/60 is as short a tire as I would want to go.

BW72 Jun 13th, 04, 1:49 AM Here's how mine sits now.
Although I kinda like the slight raked look it has, it looks like it sits too high in the back, making the 235/60's look skinny when you're looking at it from the rear.

mild68ss Jun 13th, 04, 1:10 PM I have Hotchkis 1" lowered springs and it seems low enough for me. Especially in the rear.

kamino69er Jun 13th, 04, 7:53 PM As far as ride goes, I'm very happy with it. Although Hotchkis springs my be a better ride.
I am using a BFG's 245/45/17 tires in the front.
69chevelle69 Jun 13th, 04, 10:48 PM thanks for all the pics im going to run 1 inch drops in the front and stock spring height in the front with that very same tire combo and i definetly didnt want a tall tire taking away the drop in the front.....
