Hi guys, I downloaded AVG the other day. I currently use Comcast for my internet service. After the program was downloaded, the internet worked fine, but after it was shut down and restarted it won't let me connect to the internet. I adjusted the firewall settings so that it would let me get connected (stand alone computer mode). Now when I go to connect, it goes through it's steps, but stops at "verifying user profile". I didn't change my profile. When I pull up all the wireless networks in the area, mine is thre, but I can't get the computer to read it, even after clicking connect. The computer won't connect to it. I'm sorry for the rambling description, I'm just frustrated. Thanks in advance!

If you can use system restore

Start, run, services.msc

scroll through the list and find all AVG related services and stop them. Once avg is shutdown, try to connect again. If you are able to connect then you know it is avg blocking a port. or uninstall avg and see if that fixes the problem or you can use msconfig and stop avg from starting, then reboot.

Also, look in Network properties and make sure your adapter wasn't disabled.

There is my morning, "I just woke up and am still a zombie," answer.

Morning,

Try Avast (http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html) and Comodo (http://www.comodo.com/), both free.
That's what I've been using.
