I am relpacing the floor pan in my 69 malibu. What I want to know is do i have to brace the trunk if it is not the whole trunk floor? It is not a complete trunk floor. I am going to be replacing other pieces as well but at I a later date. I have to replace the braces to.

I replaced everything from cowl to trunk in 3 pieces. Because the body was still on it mounts and chassis, I did not brace anything, but I did do one section at a time tacking the new metal in place as I went along. Nothing moved. Also I was continually checking that nothing got racked out of alignment with the doors and trunk lid that I left on. I also picked and marked spots and used the 3,4,5 triangle for benchmarks, squareness and stability. It all worked out pretty good. Now that the chassis is out and I can work the bottom of it. Best of luck, one piece at a time.

So do I need to cut the one piece pan that I have? How do I go about installing the one piece pan and braces?

I did the 1 piece trunk...braces already welded on and it was a pain. I removed the tail panel, but found out I didn't need to. If you can fully remove the old one, remove all the mounts and have help. Raise the body up and slip in the full piece trunk under. At least I think that's how I did it.

When I did my 1 piece trunk floor pan I went in through the teail panel. It was not a 1 man job., you will need help, but when I did ming after some dinging and banging, it went in pretty easily, to my surpris. If you can avoid it, don't cut up your 1 piece.
