Can you anodize brake rotors? I know the stuff is hard as a rock, so is there any risk in it? Thx

I'm not sure what the properties are for the anodized coating, but if it doesn't allow it to dissipate heat very quickly, then it's bad... don't know if it does that or not though.

Anodizing is for aluminum, I don't know that you can anodize iron or steel.

I don't believe that you can anodize iron. I had my rotors zinc plated. Many aftermarket rotors are zinc washed. I don't know the difference between 'plated' and 'washed'. They turned out well and have held up well, but I have very limited time on them. However I have a hat type rotor and so there are no wheel bearing races in my rotor. Be sure to remove them before having anything done to the rotor.

Good Luck.
