Just as the title says, I have my car all blown apart right now and the wiring harness is pretty much all hacked up and half torn out.
I have my engine in there and I would really like to fire her up and hear her roar and it will probably be some time before I have the stock harness replaced and corrected.
What I was thinking of doing was purchasing one of those control panels that they have for drag cars with a few options and wiring her up like that so I can break her in and do some tweaking.
Does anyone see a problem with this? I probably just need a panel with an ignition switch, fuel pump switch and possibly a fan switch. Oh, and a start button.
I believe that they come with some wiring to help with the install.
I won't be driving around with this temp wiring harness, it's basically just to get her running and work out a few bugs and stuff.
Any help or ideas that you guys can contribute would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
John

Pretty simple....You'll need fuel, a Tach, 2 or 3 switches, some wire and a oil and Temp. guage. Wire your starter to the battery and engine/frame.
If it's a mechanical fuel pump, it's even easier. Connect fuel lines.
If it's an electric pump the third switch comes into play. Positive to pump wire and Negative to Neg. or ground.
Make sure you have a mechanical oil presure guage and hook it up to the pressure port above the oil filter.
Hook up your Temp guage to the manifold or head.
Connect the Tach to the HEI and ground as instructed in the Tach instructions (Sun Super Tach is simple).
The second switch will connect to the coil on the HEI and Neg on the Battery.
Then connect the other switch to a crank switch ( this switch should be a momentary contact switch that will open when you release the button). One to the "S" terminal of the Starter and one to Ground (Negative Terminal).
Turn on fuel switch if electric, turn on Ignition switch to HEI and hit the start button.
If you'r engine is set up properly, it will start:thumbsup::beers:.
