FF 3.5 (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html) is out.
Doesn't appear to do an auto update since it's an upgrade -link above.

I just did some tweaks that really sped up my browsing. I wonder if I upgrade I'll lose them.

I found these on another site I go to regularly. I did the first two but not the last one. I never (rarely) have FF minimized so it's not an issue for me.

The second one was the most dramatic!

Reduce the amount of RAM Firefox uses for its cache feature

1. Type “about:config” (no quotes) in the address bar in the browser.
2. Find “browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewer”
3. Set it’s value to “0“;(Zero)

Increase the Speed at Which Firefox loads pages

1. Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit Enter.
(Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.)
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 10.
This means it will make 10 requests at once.
3. Lastly, right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0“;.(Zero)
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages faster now.
Optionally (for even faster web browsing) here are some more options for your about:config (you might have to create some of these entries by Right Click –> New– > Interger or String
network.dns.disableIPv6: set “false”
“content.notify.backoffcount”: set “5“; (Five)
“plugin.expose_full_path”: set “true”.
“ui.submenuDelay”: set “0; (zero)

Reduce RAM usage to 10MB when Firefox is minimized:

This little hack will drop Firefox’s RAM usage down to 10 Mb when minimized:
1. Open Firefox and go to the Address Bar. Type in about:config and then press Enter.
2. Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean.
3. In the box that pops up enter “config.trim_on_minimize”. Press Enter.
4. Now select True and then press Enter.
5. Restart Firefox.

Oh happy day!

I just installed FF 3.5 and it was worth it just for an add on called "Auto Pager". Don't know if it is available for earlier versions but I just found it.

In multiple page threads, it automatically loads the next page so you just scroll down infinitely. No more clicking on the page links in the corner. It just puts a bar where the page break should be and it allows you to skip to whatever page you want, forward or backward or to the top or bottom of the thread.

Man that's nice!

I still can't figure out why it won't automatically log me onto my websites though. It used to but hasn't in a while.

Try this:

1. Click the Windows Start button, and type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in the Start Search box near the bottom of the Start menu, without pressing Enter.

2. Click on Firefox profiles and a folder will open with a file that is made of random numbers and letters click it. Your cookies.sqlite file will be in there. I deleted it and bingo, problem solved.

That came from this page:

I had the same problem and this worked for me. :)

SWEET! Thanks Dave. It would have taken me the rest of my life to find that.

Works perfectly now!

'Tools' -'clear history' can do the same ,just select cookies in the dropdown box.

Cool - glad I could help! I lived with it for longer than I should have  - signing into all the sites I frequent every day, sometimes more than once a day. That was getting old, so I searched 'til I found the solution.

Someone has finally updated FasterFox for v3.
I use it for the taskbar timer.
