View Full Version : No brake pedal pressure - common sources

I have searched about brake pedals going to the floor, (which my '70 wagon with power disc/drums does) and was wondering if what else I should check. I have replaced the m/c, and the front brake lines, which were leaking at the distribution block on the frame. I also bled the system. No visible leaks. If the cup shaped rubber gasket between the power booster and m/c was damaged could that play a role? Do I bother trying another rebuilt m/c? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

it sounds like the m/c is still not bled of air. did you do a bench bleed? if there is still air in it get some short line and go from m/c port dirrectly back into the resevoir and really work the m/c. that should help get the air out. tom

I second that, it sounds like you still have air in the system, most likely the master cylinder.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did bench bleed it when I installed the m/c. I will keep trying to bleed, bleed, bleed.

You don't have to remove the m/c to bleed it. Just install the plastic fittings and rubber hoses then pump the pedal.

The M/C should be level when bench bled. If you're doing it on the car, jack up the rear.
