Hey guys,

It's been awhile since I've been here! Was a member about 2 years ago under this name when I had my 69, but sold it a couple years ago. Well I'm back at it again. Just picked up a 70 Chevelle SS clone with an M-20. Hopefully starting a 454 swap this winter.

Anyways, I'm looking into replacing all the bushings with either polygraphite or polyurethane to help the handling. What else is out there that I can try? Does Hotchkis make some decent parts (ie trailing arms, etc)? Getting excited to get started on this ol girl! It's been too long!

If you are wanting to go Hotchkis, you might want to join up again as there is an Hotchkis "special" going on in the members area.

I might have to do that...thanks for the heads up.

As far as bushings go, I hear that polyurethane tends to squeek. Any truth to that? How do they compare to polygraphite?

If you do a search on Polygraphite & polyurethane you will find complaints about squeaking with both types. Maybe more-so with polyurethane. I use the polyurethane on my first rebuild and they were terrible in cold weather. The first "kit" I bought came with about a thimble full of grease for all the bushings. So I'd supplement the grease supply whichever way you go.

Polygraphite probably is the way to go. However, as has been said, you need to use plenty of grease on them. I haven't had problems with squeeking when I did that. As far as getting grease, you can get that waterproof grease from sources like Spohn:

I got a tube from them and have used it on my chassis and bushings (where needed). Much cheaper than buying it in little amounts from places like Jegs and such. Good luck!
