Good morning everyone. I am replacing the front disk brake hoses on my 70 SS and got the replacement hoses from OPG. The original hoses have a big block fitting that the banjo bolt goes through, and the replacements from OPG have a relief cut into the block fitting makeing it about .2 inches narrower. Now when torqueing the banjo bolts they bottom out. Does anyone make shorted banjo bolts or should I return the hoses to OPG and try a Kragen or similar outlet?
Thanks, Jim

I've had a similair situation during all my trials and tribulations of brake work and here are a couple of suggestions. First, are the hoses correct in all other ways? Do the fit right and not bind anyway thru the turning arc? If all is ok, then yes, I have seen different length banjo bolts, but make sure not to get the metric ones! Or, you could always just take your existing bolts over to the grinder and get rid of about an 1/8" or so! I've done that a time or two, just make sure you rinse them well! Also, do you have the correct crush washers in there? If you can get some new washers, sometimes I've even seen them doubled up on both sides to provide extra spacing, but I've never tried that and would be concerned about leaks.

If you are not comfortable if either of those, then I'd send them back.

Bill, yes everything else about the hoses is good, its just the block end thats different. The crush washers I purchased are identical to those removed, so I will hit NAPA on the way home today and see about shorter banjo bolts. If they don't have them, its off to the grinder....
Thanks, Jim.
