I want to start on getting my dash re-done, but want to find out what the best way of doing it is. I haven't taken apart a 66 dash before, want to know if there are any specifics on what to do or not to do.

Also not sure what I want the looks of it to be. I want to do like a stainless steel face, with some gauges, nothing too fancy, but would like to see some pics of others to get a better idea.

Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

Thomas---that dash on the 67 looks great! Was that custom made, or did you buy it like that? Care to name the source? Thanks,

I just finished mine up and I definitely learned a few things. If I did it all over again I would have removed tha dash, installed everything (dash pad, dash strip, gauges and bezels) and then re-installed the dash as a whole unit. I painted all the matal parts of mine first then put it back in. I then installed the dash pad, then the strip, then moved on the the speedo / gauge bezel. The speedo bezel is nearly impossible to get in with the dash installed so I had to unbolt the dash again to get the bezel in. Also, all those little bolts & screws that hold the parts in are tiny and very hard to get at while laying on your back under the dash. Steering column had to be unbolted too.

Might be a bit extreme for what you're doing but here's my old 67. First pic is as originally done with 4-speed and stereo in dash. Second & third are after adding A/C, moving stereo to console, and 700R4 swap.

Wow Dale I thought you were a originality guy, holy smokes, do not see that on the CDIt's my ex-67 and there are some other photos of it in the Photo Gallery > Custom of that CD.

In reality I'm more of a custom guy than original or restored guy. I like to drive 'em and building them to suit my taste. Nothing against the "star washer with the correct markings" enthusiast but once it's restored, what's left? Then too, I never started with one that was correct enough to want to put back to original condition. Kudos to those that do though!
