: 64-72 Chevelle 9" Booster & MC cheap
65ss.com May 26th, 04, 10:17 PM Well, I just found the Team Chevelle Forum. Lots of information here. I will be canvasing it for the next few months at least.
Anyway, I am converting my 65 to disc brakes with a set from an 64-72 era Olds. I was told this will work, but I have a single circuit master cylinder. So, I wanted to upgrade this, but didn't want to interfere with my Big Block, so I found the following item:
http://www.mpbrakes.com/bm1703.htm
I am going to buy one, and see how it fits. I will need to run new lines anyway, so the fitting size should not be a problem. I just felt I needed to contribute this to the forum. I will try and post how it fit after I put it in.
Later

johnyac May 27th, 04, 12:00 AM Hey Charles,
I scored one of these off of ebay with the combo valve. Very happy with the fit, but mines going in a 65 with the a strait six so no real problems making it fit.

sobever066 May 28th, 04, 12:31 AM I'm looking forward to seeing your pics of your completed project. I have a 66 with a bbc and I want to do this upgrade soon also. Any reason why you are not going with a dual diaphram booster?
Cecil May 28th, 04, 11:03 AM I put the complete MPBrakes kit on my car - no problems at all! Like someone told me, make sure you wear your seatbelt, 'cause the first time you slam the brakes you're going to be surprised...

Dual Diaphram Booster? I guess I am ignorant to the difference. I am going with this particular M/C and Booster combo because of the $$$ for now. If it does not stop to my satisfaction, I will upgrade it later. I currently have power brakes in the car, but I do not trust my life on a single circuit master cylinder & drum brakes stopping a 502 powered '65. I plan on getting the car together for Cruising The Coast (http://cruisinthecoast.com/) and then pulling it back apart to finish restoring the body. I want it mechanically right before I blow it apart to do body work.
67-468 May 29th, 04, 4:55 PM sobever066 I have been trying to send mail with info but it wont let me send?
sobever066 May 30th, 04, 12:52 AM Sorry I got a new e-mail address. It's chevelle066@sbcglobal.net. Thanks.
John_Muha May 30th, 04, 10:29 AM Go down to the parts store and look at a 8" Dual Diaphram Booster for a 79 Trans Am. Uses the same master as a 72 Chevelle. Wasn't that hard to fit into my 72.
64elkynss Jun 4th, 04, 2:11 PM I just put this setup on my 64 about 6 months ago along with front discs and have had no problems at all! Of course, had to add some new brake lines for the proportioning valve, but other than that, everything was REAL easy. Eventually I'm going to go with the original style Delco-Moraine type booster, but for now this works great! Tony
chev65elleSS Jun 4th, 04, 8:58 PM hi, I bought one of those 9" booster from MP and it's fits pretty good in my big block 65 chevelle. The only thing I wish I did was buy it as a set with all the conversion lines and proportional valve, because I went the cheap way and only bought the booster and master for $125, making my own lines. Buying this booster and master would lead you into buying everything else from MP. Another really good place is CCP(Classic performance products), I wish i bought my stuff at CCP, because they have more of the original looking boosters and master cylinders and they're cheaper.
