I have another question I hope you can help with...Got a problem...I think.
I have the entire front end of my '65 Chevelle torn apart. Bought all new bushings, ball joints centrelink, etc....but the upper inner shaft that I bought from PST (Also looks the same from Year One) doesn't match the one I removed. In fact it looks like a totally different style of shaft.
I have a photograph of the two shafts...just wondered if anyone had seen this or not?

Is it an offset shaft? Some replacements are offset to allow for more camber adj and to compensate for frame roll.

Not an offset shaft. Hard to explain the issue. Is there a way to post a photograph?

As a team member you can get a showroom and place pictures there. If you have a web page that others can view that will work as well. Click on the Image button while replying or posting a new topic, then paste in the link to the image.
If you don't have web page or place to share photos email the pic to me and I'll post it for you.

I know of two styles. The one common on Chevys uses a small bolt to hold the end pieces on. The shafts on my Father-in-Law's Buick have a much larger threaded section, and a nut on each end of the shaft.
Is that the difference you're seeing?

That is exactly what I am seeing.
Think I can use the more common one if I swap the upper Control Arm?
Finally is going to post a Pic....

Those will never work! Better send them to me so I can dispose of them properly. Actually the new ones look like Chevelle bushings, at least for a 68>72 Chevelle. Don't look like they'll work with those arms.

I'd like to know why some cars got one style, and other cars got a different style.
I bought salvage yard arms to put on 'Dad's Buick, after shoving Poly bushings and new ball joints into them. I never really looked at what came off his car, other than to see that they weren't the same as what went on.
I kind of remember that Buick advertising in the later '60's talked up a different camber curve for their "A" bodies, and I'm starting to wonder if they didn't install revised (longer or shorter) upper control arms to do it. I just don't know.
In short, yeah, I think you're screwed with the arms you've got. Fortunately, there's plenty in the 'yards, and aftermarket support, too.
