Looking for some input? I am getting ready to paint my dash on the 67 Chevelle convertible I am restoring. This is my question, is the dash and dash inert a Semi Gloss or eggshell finish? I am using a single stage paint that I will be adding some flattener to. When I look at the dash insert bezel that I took apart the original paint looks like an egg shell finish. Should the top of the dash under the windshield be a semi gloss? Also on the top of the doors is this supposed to be gloss or semi gloss finish?
Thanks Jason

All interior metal should be 60% gloss with the upper dash at 0% gloss. How to obtain that with flattening agent is trial and error I've found. The factory sparyed them with lacquer and that was it. It dries to the right gloss. You still have to add flattening agent to the upper dash area. Gloss reflects the sun and can cause glare. Also the gloss shows all the finger prints.

SEM Trim Black #39143 or PPG 9266 except the dash top as stated. If you mix on a system it's not trial and error. Formulas are available. Straight lacquer does not dry to the correct sheen; f. agent has to be added. But yes you can obtain your objective without a mixing system.
