When turning on WEP what does a person have to be careful of?

I assume you mean turn it on in your wireless router. Yes you need to record it, you'll need to enter it in your wireless settings on your pc in order to connect. Some routers will generate the key for you based on a short pass phrase. If not, it really doesn't matter what you enter. The number of combinations is astronomical, so odds of someone else figuring out is almost non-existent.
