My '72 El Camino with front disc / rear drum has started to make a sqeal from the front brakes when making a hard right turn at low speed, such as entering a tight parking space. It does it even if not touching the brake pedal. Before I pull the wheels, any suggestions on what graemlins/sad.gif I should look for?

You are sure it is from the brakes, correct? I ask only because I was having a squeak from the power steering pump pulley/belt with hard turns in either direction at low speeds... So, thought that I'd mention it, at least.

Pretty sure. It's a metal/metal or brake pad/metal sound for sure, and I had someone listen while I turned circles in a parking lot. He says it's definitely coming from the wheel not from under the hood.

Most all brake pads have a warning sensor built onto the bottom of the pad.Its a small piece of thin metal that rubs on the rotor as the pads get low essentially telling you to have the brakes checked. When it just starts to contact the rotor it makes a high pitched metallic sound that goes away or changes tone as you apply the brakes.Pull the front wheel on the side thats loudest as a quick check.
