I replaced the springs with 1'inch lowering springs all around. Fronts look good but in the rear the driver side is an inch and a half lower than passenger. Too low, tire is almost rubbing. Is there a wrong way to put these coils in? Can they be put in upside down? Look the same on both sides?????
thanks

If they are not the type that bolt in, it does't matter haw they are installed. Just make sure they are sitting properly on the perches. They have to be around the raised area on the rear and the lowered aread up on the frame.

Yeah I looked at them and look like they are sitting in properly. I think it might have something to do with the control arm or shocks. But really don't know

I forgot to mention that I put a new sway bar up front and it doesn't have motor in yet. Could this cause the problem?

How do your body bushings look?? That can cause the car to sit lopesided. Thats the reason my car sits cockeyed (atleast i *HOPE* it is smile.gif ).

It was sitting fine before I replaced them. So I don't think thats it.But I will have a look at them when it stops raining!!!

If it was sitting fine before that i wouldn't think it was a body bushing. All i can say is make sure both springs are around the circles in the top and bottom where they mounted. Does one spring look more compressed than another?

I looked under there and they are in the proper position (around the circles) Maybe I messup up when installing them.
1.I took the shocks out
2.I removed control arm bolt
3.lowered rear and removed springs
4.This is when I ran into trouble. In order for the rear to line up with arm again to bolt back up,I had to really push it to line up with my foot.(Had someone else put bolt in)
5.Raised the rear and put the tires back on, then did it to the other side.

I have readone the front suspension and just got my motor rebuilt and need to take care of this so I can get on the road again
Any suggestions?
thanks

Steve
i believe the reason your car is leaning is because you unbolted the lower control arms and did one side at a time. when tightening the control arm bolt you must tighten them up with the rear end at ride height. what you have done is put the control arm bushings in a bind.

to correct the leaning problem you will need to jack up the rear end and place a jack stand under each axle tube, and let the car down on them. then i would loosen the control arm bolts and re-tighten them all.

another helpfull tip, when changing springs its not neccessary to unbolt the control arms. all you have to do is place a floor jack under the center section of the rear end and get the car in the air. then place 2 jack stands under the frame and let the rear end down a little bit. then unbolt lower shock bolts, remove shocks and swing them out of the way and lower the rear end all the way down. you should be able to remove the springs easily.

Hey thanks alot. This is my first time replacing rear springs and wasn't exactly shure on what to do in the first place. I'll fix the rear and then drop the motor in.
