Wow I guess I didn't think 2 guys could lift something like that.

I think they picked-up the front end while the back was supported by the engine hoist and then set the front on jack stands!

erik thats exactly what we did, i'm not gonna lie it was freaking heavy! the whole floor on this thing is cut out so that helps out alot! We just set the front down every now an then we eventually took the back wheels off so we could clear the frame

I can't remember, but how much heavier are those cars than a Chevelle of average weight? 4000lbs. all trimmed out? I'm thinking the gauge of steel in those cars is probably around 17-18 instead of 19 or 20(repro parts) the Chevelles are made of.

I lifted mine 4 times as I had to move it once to another property and just put the frame back to do that......used a hoist on both ends 2 times, then I used the backhoe on the front 2 times, the last time also to set it on the body mounts. The frame is even pretty heavy just to lift it by yourself to move it around with no suspension/wheels.

Cool project!

I think I'm going to try to balance it with 1 engine hoist using the back seat belt bolt holes. I figure if its unbalanced I have more than enough crap laying around to use it as ballast.

I really wish I knew some experienced fellers around here that could help me.

What color that going to be? Resto-modded or stock-ish?

I'm not sure how much heavier they are, some of the sheetmetal is the same gauge, but in other parts its thicker, like I said this thing is a bare shell, its really awkward to lift but I dont think it weighs much right now. My brother got this car when he was 16, this is actually the second time its been off the frame. the old frame was rotten beyond repair, we picked up a new frame cleaned it up, painted it, put in a 350/th350, it runs pretty good. The old owner had welded brand new floor pans right over the old ones! without that one piece floor this car would have been next to impossible!

he wants to paint it the original canyon coral pinkish color, but have some 17" torque thrusts on it

My brother and I had some friends come over yesterday and give us a hand on his 57 again. we lifted it as High in the air as we could, ans suported it on saw horses, then rolled the frame an new floor back under it, I gotta say so far this one piece floor is the way to go! It fits very nice, but the body is a little tweaked from no floor being installed and hanging in the air for so long. Pictures will be posted later today!

How do you even see him that much if he lives in Kentucky? My bro moved to Chicago, then Brazil. I only see him once a year.
