Well Terry (Hoss's wife) decided not to sell her 91 Dodge diesel truck so there was another one I found so Im going to look at it tomorrow. Its down in St. Helen OR so Danielle and I are going to take Wed and Thurs off and go stay with my Brother and family in Longbeach. My Brother and I will go together to check it out and if its as nice as he says I will be driving it home.
Its a 92 Dodge Diesel X-cab with only 82,000 miles. It has a fully rebuilt trans with Tq converter, brakes, tires, custom bench seat, upgraded turbo ect. It will be able to tow the chevelle with out a problem. Here are a couple of pics from his post add on the diesel forum. I also did a carfax report and it came up clean.

This is how it starts, first a truck then you'll need a trailer, then you'll have to have a motorhome, then..........................:D

I've never regretted switching to diesel, you'll love the power and economy. Have a fun trip!!

That looks like a clean truck Kevin. With only 82k you can't go wrong. My Cummins has almost 3 times that amount of miles and it still goes REAL strong

Well Im down in Long Beach right not posting this. I went and looked at the truck today and didnt buy it. It did run ok but the body was a bit rough. You cant see it in the pics but all down the sides are rippled and lots of dings. Hood is all faded and also the roof. There are holes in the bed where a 5th wheel hitch was mounted so its been used to pull a pretty heavy load. The steering felt loose and just a bunch of little stuff. The guy wanted 7900 for it and would not budge at all so I walked. Lots more trucks out there so no big deal. I get to spend time with my brother and my nefew and neice.

On a side note my Brother is giving me his car trailer. As soon as I get a truck I can come back down and pick it up:thumbsup:

Sounds like an awesome deal on the car trailer. Too bad about the truck.

This one doesn;t seem to be a bad deal. Dodge trucks are notorious for bad steering. The ball joint are factory un-greasable. I'm not sure on the 1st gens but my truck has a stupid trac bar.

I wasn't going to say it, but since you passed on that truck, those generation Dodge trucks had amp gauges in the dash, and the full current went through them from the alternator and out to the battery.....lots of fried gauges, wiring connectors that are not rated for the amperage load etc. from that era of truck.

As far as the steering goes, I've driven my Grandpa's mid 80s Dodge truck before(no longer has it) and I didn't like it too much. Although, not as bad as a Ford with their crappy P/S boxes that whine like they're gonna blow up.

If you don't care too much about the looks or wouldn't mind primering it all one color, we still have our 93' Dakota that we're going to sell. 318 runs stronger than hell with only around 115-120k miles on it. Could easily pull a trailer.

Well it seems like Terry (Hoss's wife) is now ready to sell the truck. So I'm going up to really check it out now. I didn't look at it at the BBQ because she said it wasn't for sale then.

Hoss told me also that if I bought the truck and wanted to upgrade the torque converter to a hughes unit for towing he would install it for free. I just need to buy the converter. Sounds like a good deal to me. Danielle feels more comfortable buying the truck from Terry and Mark because we know the history of the truck and I'm sure it has been well maintained.

I had my eye on that truck but really would like an auto so the wife could drive it if she had to.
