I want to apologize to Hoss and DJ's dyno team for posting the other thread about not trusting the dyno. I know dyno's are for tuning and can change depending on weather and set up of the car. I in no way thought I was ripped off at all and will still do it again next year:yes:

I guess I was disappointed in the #s when in reality I shouldnt be. The car works awesome and run 11.79 in the 1/4 so it does exactly what I wanted it to so if it does it with 377HP and not 450HP who cares.

I also found a new calculator that when I pluged in my info put me at 475 at the crank so with 20% drive train loss that puts me at 380 to the ground so the 377HP on DJ's dyno at Hoss's WAS RIGHT ON:thumbsup: Or pretty darn close to real #s

Ok now back to your regular scheduled program:D

See how close you get to the dyno now:)

Hey Kevin, you are running an auto now ,correct? how much slippage do you have with your convertor?

Yes its an auto. How do you figure slip?

Hey Kevin,

I was dissapointed with the 304rwhp number as well... I have to keep reminding myself how well the car performs at the track with those low numbers. I also believe the dyno gave me good info on how to get more performance out of my combo with lower shift points.

I know I'm only a small block guy.... but, if you go back to post #19 of your dyno "hater" thread you'll see that I referenced that page already.:p

I took some comfort in the fact that you made 377hp and ran 11.79, and I made 374.6 and ran 11.74 (different day/different air). Both our numbers are very close on the dyno and at the track... so whether its high or low at least it appears consistant.

There's definetly more HP there somewhere Greg. There's really no good reason that Tammy's 350 is out doing your's and Ben's 350's. Her's does run damn good though.

A lot gets lost in emails and posts and the meaning of stuff gets screwed up. Had we all been standing around BS'ing about dyno's and calculators we would of understood what you were saying (in person). That is why I hate email at work, no emotion.
Thanks for the updated version.

With input of 14.13 et, 97.4 trap speed, and 3800lbs of car:

Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 218.65 rear wheel HP and 242.94 flywheel HP.
Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 246.64 rear wheel HP and 274.04 flywheel HP.

I like the other one better  lol

If you read the calculator it says that it takes 10% loss for drivetrain. I know that some say a auto and a 12 bolt are around 15-20% loss but its hard to say for sure unless you had your motor on an engine dyno the in the car for a chassi dyno or 1/4 mile run.

Have you had your car weighed Chad??

I have not, 3800 is just a guesstimate as to what it'd weight with me in it. Which according to that first calculator you posted, is a reasonable guess.

I should get it weighed one of these days so I can take some of the guess work out of this kind of stuff

No worries Kevin I can totally understand how and why you (or anyone) would like the better numbers a calculator gives you.

You would not believe how many diesel guys I have seen who say my truck makes 345hp stock and my comp box makes 120ph and my intake adds 45hp and my exhaust adds 45hp and my new turbo adds 75hp so I have a 630hp truck

and they get on a dyno and make 460hp and dont understand what is wrong with the dyno.

Sometimes the math just does not add up the way we would like it to.

You have a kick ass car and should be VERY proud of it

Kevin,to determine convertor slip, you need to know your trap RPM & MPH,tire height and gear ratio.
My old 442 clone ran a best of 11.66 @ 115 MPH and it made about 370-380 RWHP and the convertor had about 4% slippage.
