My '70 454 is being restored and although it'll look stock (I'll have a TKO600 and a few other modern parts), I'd love some suspension ideas to help her handle. I'll have 15x8" wheels on the rear, and maybe stock up front. Thanks for any suggestions/ideas.

OMG....the options are endless. How much money do want to spend and can you do the fab work yourself or does it need to farmed out? How long do you want it down while it's being put together?

Probably the best suspension that could be reasonably put under an A body would be a custom built 3-link out back and one off built spindles/control arms for ideal R.C and SVSA.

A good fab shop could probably do the whole job for around 5K I'd guess. It's mostly design and construction labor, parts are cheap for a layout such as that (spindles may get a little pricey). Good Luck.

I'm assuming you're looking for bolt-ons without breaking the bank. How aggressive do you plan to drive it, and do you plan on autocrossing, or drag-racing.

Tall spindles up front with 12" brakes, new springs and a 1-1/8" or 1-1/4" sway bar. Replace the bushings with poly.

In the rear, there are many choices. I really like my SSM lift bars, which are great for drag-racing and mildly agressive street-use. I've been told they are not good for autocross use, but I haven't experienced any of the said drawbacks the way I drive the car. I also have poly bushings in the back, but like the SSM's, they have drawbacks which I haven't experienced since I don't drive the car very hard.

Thank you Denny and Derek. The car is being restored right now, should be done this summer (hopefully). My uncle is actually doing the resto. I'd like to keep costs relatively low. I guess this is one of those things I could do later on after I've recovered from the cost of the restoration.

This will be a street driven car that will make occasional trips to the strip. No autocross action.

Derek, what are the drawbacks to poly bushings? Thanks again guys.

I'm really just going by what Dennis has said. On the rear Uppers, the poly bushings bind, and do not allow the axle to move as it should.

They are fine in all the other places, just bad in the rear uppers.

I currently have stock spindles on front of my car, and it handles pretty good. I'm hoping the tall spindles will be a noticeable improvement, but I haven't done it yet.

I really like the SSM rears for street/strip use

For a street car with limited strip use I would run Edlebrock upper and lowers with al. axle bushings.

Thanks again Denny and Derek. I'll check out the Edelbrock packages.
