I have a set of spindles with disc brakes, and the guy I got them from said they came off a -69 Camaro. In a previous thread, someone said that -69 Camaro spindles/brakes will fit on my -69 Chevelle, so I'm really interested in figuring out if that's what I have got.

Here are some part numbers:

Spindles (casting number only) GM397 G

Caliper brackets: 5463419L and 5463420R

Shields: 5463496L and 5463497R

Would really appreciate if anyone with access to part numbers would check it out. Of course, it would be even more interesting to know if the part numbers are identical to Chevelle.

Just as a quick check, I have looked for booster, master cylinder, rotors etc at Auto Zone's web site, but it comes up with different numbers for Camaro and Chevelle, so I'm still not 100% sure if my setup can be used.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as I would save a bunch by using the parts I've got!

One thing for sure, the Camaro steers opposite, but you can use your steering arms off the drum brakes.

i dont know about the part numbers to help you along, i am prety sure the spindles will work. it is easy to tell by comparing it to your drum spindles. the only ifference is going to be in the hight of the boss that the drum backing plate bolts to. the disc bracket bolts to the same place but is .6" lower. asmentioned use the steering arm from your drum spindles. thats it. from there on out you get everything for a 69 chevelle. such as rotors, calipers, bearings, ball joints tie rods,... even 69 chevelle booster and master cylinder and proportioning valve. a 69-70 disc proportioning valve looks like this

but you could also put 1971-72 p-valve, ms & booster on instead.
