: Sand or Paint!

Completed the paint job on my car, BC/CC and not pleased with color or end results. Long story! All materials were PPG with no hardner in the BC formula. Now thinking about SS acrylic urethane from PPG but have a couple of concerns. The car is sanded with 1500 and 2000 with several areas that went through the clear. Will the SS adhere properly to a finish this smooth or should it be sanded with maybe 600? Will the SS cause the edges of my clear to wrinkle in the break through areas? Having to shoot more clear at this point would be a pain. Thanks in advance.

I have gotten better results with SS and the car will see very little outside activity.

1500-200 is definitely too fine to paint over. I would sand everything with 400 and shoot a coat of 2K sealer before repainting. Then you won't see the spots where you sanded through to the base and you won't need to worry about the clear lifting around the edges.

400 or 500 should do it
