Yesterday I picked up a complete front end off a 07/93 Caprice Classic for $50.00.Spindles,all the tie rods, steering box, calipers, rotors, both upper A arms.My question is will this work on my 1972 Chevelle and with how much work will it be. I have done some research and some places say yes it will work and others don't. graemlins/beers.gif
The "tall spindle swap" will involve new lower ball joints machined to fit the stock lower arm, but purchased to fit the spindle you have.
$50 for the spindles them-selves is the going rate. So good deal there.
I helped a friend put these on his 65, and he used 2" lowering springs, stock upper/lower arms, PST poly bushings, offset control arm-shafts, mounted wrong side out.
Tie rods.....I'd replace them anyway.
Steering box - Might be useable (different fitting adapters for the pump lines will be required). It is the "fast ratio swap if you wanna do a search.
Calipers - cores - save that $
Rotors - if they are useable, way to go.
Upper A-Arms - don't think they will be usable. But you may be able to resell 'em???
So, if you figure the spindles were worth $50, then you came out at least $100 to the good. The 65-72 platform will take the parts with a little work.
