Hi guys. I'm a retired autobody professional, over thirty years experience.
I'm helping my son restore a 67 Chevelle that's been in the family forever.

The car has a serious rust problem along the top front leading edge of the roof that goes down into the channel. (Vinyl Top was the culprit) I KNOW what I'm going to have to do to fix it, and it will be a slow, tedious process that I don't look forward to.

What I've been wondering lately is if the front edge and channel on a reproduction 68 El Camino roof panel has the same contour. (The repro El Camino roof would be cheaper than buying a full 68 Chevelle panel) If so, I could "graft" the front section in and make a neater, cleaner job than the alternative. (I wish there was a donor 67 Chevelle around that I could peel the roof skin from, but there's none to be found at a reasonable price in these parts)

I'd post photos, but there's no option to upload direct from my HD, and I don't care for fooling with registering with photo sharing sites like photobucket.

I realize the 67 and 68 are two different body styles, but all I'm concerned with is that narrow top leading edge of the roof.

Is there anyone here who has checked this out and can tell me something?

I don't the answer to your question, but I would suggest that you at least Advertise in our Free Classifieds section for what you need.. You never know ... you may find a donor closer to you than you think at a reasonable price.
