: 69 El Camino/Chevelle rear control arm question

As you may know I'm looking for a 69-72 El Camino with a BB. I test drove one last night that is absolutely beautiful but has a little issue. When you accelerate it feels like the whole rear differential shifts and the car actually tracks a little sideways. When you let off it goes back to normal. I crawled under to look at the rear control arm bushings and one of them is definitely bad so it is my guess that is where the problem is.

My question is...how hard is it to change the rear control arm bushings? I can handle the job, just never done it. Are they pressed in like the front control arm bushings? Is there anything else that a First Gen Camaro guy should be looking for that might be a problem under there? Are the 68-72 Chevelle/El Camino parts interchangeable under there?

Thanks for any help!!

these (http://www.chevelles.com/forum/ultimatebb.php/topic/7/9315.html) would be great back there and don't require anything special to install.
Yes, the 68-72 chassis will interchange all parts and peices.

Thanks Dennis:

It looks like it was actually the lower bushing where the control arm attaches to the differential that was bad but it got too dark for me to look at the upper. Will those bushings work on the lower also?

Nope, the lowers are part of the lower arms. I have a fix for that too. Stay tuned.
