On my '69 SS I have replaced the wheel cyl's and calipers and master cyl. Bled the brakes numerous times and my brake idiot light is coming on. Does it need replacement? It is original to car. Or is there a process to "reset" it?
Also, is there suppose to be a slot for adjusting the rear brakes in the backing plates on same car?

If there is not a slot you need to take the drum off to adjust the brakes. you will take it on and off a bunch of times and turn the sdjuster a little each time unti lthe drum get tight to pull on and off.
You may just need to adjust the brakes to get the light to stop.

I am not sure but have been told you do need to reset the switch occasionally after service by pressing on the rubber cover at the and of the block itself
never had to do this myself though good luck

The light is indicating that there is still a pressure differential between the front and rear systems. You, more than likely, still have air trapped somewhere in the rear lines. Make sure the brakes are adjusted properly first, then bleed the lines again. Sometimes "several times" is not enough. When I rebuilt my brake system in 1998, including replacing brake lines, it took quite a few tries before the system was free from air amd the light would stay off! Bought a pressure bleeder since then from a retired mechanic. Makes life easier! smile.gif
