Hey Guys,

Well, I got my pitman arm from Year 1 today. It doesn't fit. It will sort of fit on the steering gear, (only goes about 1/2 way on the splines) but it will not fit on the draglink at all. I called Y1 and the guy told me that the arm was not for my year, 1967. I told him that the salesman told me they were all the same. I have also been told that a number of times by others. So here I am. Does anyone out there know what I need and even more important, where I can get it? I have the Napa 2.5 turn steering box. The car is a 67 Malibu that had power steering with a 605 box. Any help would be appreciated.

The 605 gear was manufactured for a few years in the mid 1970s and had a smaller diameter pitman shaft than the normal 700 Saginaw power steering gears. So the pitman arm that came off of your 605 gear will not fit your new gear.

The 605 gear had an acme screw inside the gear instead of the normal recirculating ball bearings. So the 605 gear had more internal friction and just wasn't as precise as the other Saginaw gears. You need the correct pitman arm for your year Chevelle.
