Im looking to buy some new parts for my rearend.....the question im asking is simple, what is the suspension on 1971 chevelles called in the rear? I have heard many terms, torque arms, control arms, hotchkiss style suspension ...anyone want to clear this up?

I purchased a Adjustable Hotchkis suspension kit from someone on this board. It works great, very strong kit. The upper and lower "control arms" are much stronger than the originals. I have always heard them called "control arms". The guy I got them from on this board saved me about $100 under Summit's price. A wise investment I must admit.

It's a coil sprung 4 link setup. The arms are generally referred to as either trailing arms or control arms. Just make sure you refer to them as REAR control arms.

I thought I would jump into this post as I'm replacing my rear lower control arm bushings. I priced stock rubber ones and the prices run anywhere from $20 - $30ea Cdn. but JC Whitney sells them for $5 ea US, anyone ever use them.
Thks.

So.....its a coil spring 4 link set up? i just want to be sure im buying the right parts...because i am replacing the axle housing with one of moser's 12 bolt axle housings. and there are alot to choose from. I think on moser's site they just refer to it as a coil spring set up....same thing right?

All "A" and "G" bodies use what is technically referred to as a converging 4-link/coil on axle.
