I was sitting here reading BR, thinking about dinner, and I hear the sounds of a sweet smallblock with open headers. Wait! it sounds like it is stopping in front of the house! A very nice 57 Chevy has pulled up in front of the neighbor's house, sounding a bit weird. AN old guy gets out and starts rooting around in the trunk, then lays down in the gutter reaching under the car. Hmm, time to go see if he needs a hand. Sure enough, headpipe dropped off the header extension, dragging on the ground. So, I helped him put it back on, and we tralked for a few minutes. Turns out that he has a 67SS that I have seen around, and he's just finishing up the 57 Nice. Told him if he sees the garage door open to drop by and take a look at my Chevelle. Seemed like a pretty nice old guy, said he's been fiddling with cars since he was 14, and has had 50 or so cars. He lives just a few houses up, so its weird that I never ran into him before. But now I did. :)

That's my story of my new friend.

I had to do that on my 64 tempest but I was slim enough back then (late 70's) to not have to jack the car up or put it on the curb. The "poon-tang" (does anybody actually still use that phrase?) was ridin' with me at the time. In fact it was her car. :p

You made my evening, i haven't heard that term used since the 60s.
