I'm pretty sure all A-Body cars are interchangeable as far as suspension goes, but I just want to make sure. I may wind up with a rear axle from a '70 Chevelle and I'd like to know if it's a "drop in" in a '71 Monte Carlo. I would ask on the Monte Carlo forums, but there seems to be quite a few more people here, and some damn sharp ones at that!

If noone knows for certain they are the same dimensions, could I get someone with a 68-72 Chevelle to measure teir rear axle from backing plate to backing plate for me so I can compare it with mine? I know the rear control arms are interchangeable, so I'm pretty sure the whole assembly is.

Thanks!

I'm looking forward to the jump from the 2.73(?) to the 3.90 gearing. I'm pretty sure the sled will take to it quite nicely too! :D

Yes, it's the same. That oughta make her move a little faster.

71Metbu, You're way deeper into your restoration than I am! The super-shiny wheels look a little out of place smile.gif

Once I get around to it, I'l throw together a webpage with my progress. Looking back on the pictures from when I bought it, I've come a LONG way in just a couple of short months. graemlins/beers.gif
