I am doing a b body spindle swap, on my 69 chevelle. My question is, will the stock lower A-arms ball joint bolt to the b body spindle? Or do I have to put in camaro ball joints?

well they will "fit" so to speak, but I would recommend turning down a set of the b-body ball joints to 2.102..pressing the Velle joints in is difficult and could break the already inheritley weak seat. The uppers will bolt right in though..

The problem is like Westy... said, the stock lower ball joint will sorta fit, but the B-Body spindle is thicker than the stock unit. So, the stud on the ball joint will not stick thru enough to use a cotter pin thru the castle nut.

Ask me how I know, this is a fact. Totally unsafe.

Finding a machine shop to machine the base of a stock B-Body ball joint to fit the Chevelle lower control arm is the answer. Probably have $30-40 in time to do a set. Just starting calling machine shops.

The other hint is to use an offset upper control arm shaft, mounted backwards. Instead of moving the a-arm out, you are moving it toward the engine, and reduces the amount of shims you will need. Those B-Body spindles are taller than the stock units, so it changes the caster. Offset shafts help correct this.

or you could do what I did, and lay out 259$ for the global west uppers that are built for this exact application, but if your short on $ the offset shafts spun around backwards do work fine..

Pole Positions arms are $100 more, but bushings are included. I'm just trying to decide how much adjustability is worth to me smile.gif

I have a set of 78 Camaro spindles on my 67. I went with the Spartan rod works upper control arms with the shaft spun arround to cut down on the shims needed and I also bought the turned down ball joints from them too. I had no problems with assembly. The only thing you might need is new tie rod ends to fit the camaro spindles. The tapered hole is smaller on the camaro spindles compared to the 67 spindles. Although I run skinnies on the front, the car handled great and went straight as an arrow. West Central Auto sells the uppers on Ebay for a lower price than on the web site, that is where I bought mine.
