We let our car sit for about 30 days, since the the last race, went to start it and it shot fuel about 2 feet straight up in the air, stuck float. Is anyone running methanol? Our normal shut down, we turn off the fuel pump and run it dry, the spray wd40 into the carb, to keep any fuel from turning to crystals. Usually works for us for about 30 days. Anyone doing something different?

Back in my go-kart days (1961) we used methanol for fuel and always chased out the methanol with a bit of gasoline. Otherwise, those little carb passagen would get clogged. However, that was with real gasoline, not the instant-spoiling RFG of today.

On our sprint car we pickle the motor after use. We have a quick disconnect on the fuel line. When were done racing we disconnect the line and hook up the line from our 2 gal gas tank. Run it until the engine pitch changes and your good to go. After we have the gas in the motor we hook up the methonal line again and were ready for the next time. I learned this little trick from working on Indy cars. That's the way they've been doing it for years.

We thought it would go at leat 30 days, before it would be a problem. We may just have to drain the tank after each race and run some gas in it if its going to be over about 3 weeks
