Hello everyone. My '74 chevelle has this problem I've not noticed before. Last night I was driving and when I pushed the brakes the tach and under-dash gauges would flick off, but the dashboard lights (speedo and fuel level) did not.

It seems it is only the aftermarket gauges which have this problem. They come back on after holding the brakes down for a second (like at a stop-light), or when you take your foot off the brakes they also come right back on.

I am not comfortable with working on wiring stuff so I figured I would ask for help before snooping around and looking for a loose wire. I looked through the threads and didn't see anyone else having this problem, so I apoligize if its been asked before. Thank you for any help or ideas!

Is one of your gauges a amp gauge? If it is check the connections on the back or the gauge and the where ever you have it conneted to.

Update: I finally got a chance to look at the wiring under the dash. As it turns out it was a lose connector. Once I gave everything a good snug under the dash, the flicker went away. Thank you for your help!!

I'm glad it was that easy for you! Wiring can be a real pain sometimes.
