Have a '69 4 door with front/rear bench seats. Looking to replace front bench with something out of a late model car. Preferably reclining, center fold down armrest if I feel greedy. Any suggestions? I think in another post I read Pontiac, Buick, and Olds might be direct fit with floor panel holes? Much appreciated guys.

Hello!
I am interested in the same thing, have a 72 Malibu with front bench seat. Wondering what would be applicable also. I'd like modern if possible too.
I saw this ad one picture has a front bench seat with arm rest. Was wondering where it came from, so I called the ad and his friend gave to him, but he thinks it was from a 74 El Camino. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/1233210234.html

So are El Camino's bench-seats's going to fit the Malibu's size given the G-body vs. A-body
Thanks all!!

I've been looking at this too. I'd like a bench in my 66 coupe, but I'd like it to be a more modern bench (fold down armrest and sportier seat section). Unfortunately, buckets seem to be the way most coupes have gone these days. The stuff from the mid-80s g-body cars seems to have gotten close to what I was looking for. I might grab a tape measure and scout some of the local wrecking yards.

I believe the Olds benches from a similar year has the fold down arm rest. This would solve the hole alignment and fit concerns. It would not address a more modern cushion or feel.
Most of the modern benches are in big cars, like the Crown Vic or Impala, and I don't know if they'd fit.
I don't know for sure but I would say the chance of a modern bench being a direct swap would be slim. That being said I would think one could get just about any modern seat to fit with some effort. If you are going to go modern I would suggest something from a luxury grade vehicle. Something power with leather and cushy mabe Cadillac/Lexus/BMW/ who knows!!!
