: Will this work ???

A friend of mine was cleaning out his shed and gave me a disc brake set up off of a 76 Monte. I was wondering if the spindles out would work on a 68-72 Chevelle or can they work on a 68 Camaro that another friend of mine has?
What would I need to do to get them to work properly or would it be less headache and cheaper to buy a pre assembled kit (like Ground Up has) than making them work?

Yes they will work great on a 70-81 F-body or a 73-77 A-body.

They'll work on the 68 to 72 Chevelle, but it is not strictly a bolt-in. The 76 Monte used the tall spindles, and to make them work on an earlier Chevelle, there are a couple of things that you'll have to do. You'll either have to replace the upper control arms with a custom arm that is made for this conversion, or use offset control arm shafts. The taller spindles off the Monte will cause the camber angle to change so much so that you will not be able to align the front end to acheive the proper camber. There are companies that make replacement upper control arms that will allow for proper camber adjustment.

Sometimes, you can get away with the offset control arm shafts, but not always.

Then there is the issue of the upper and lower ball joints. Again, there are custom ball joints available, but (if memory serves) you can use Camaro ball joints and have them machined to fit the Monte spindle.

I'd hate to see what it would cost to have someone machine the taper on a ball joint :D
