: Question for you NW guys
djw Jun 18th, 09, 11:52 AM I'm almost finished working on my 64 and decided to do some checking on it's owner history. I bought the car in 2006 from a guy in Colbert, WA. near Spokane named Scott Stead. He purchased it in 2000 when he lived in Snohomish, WA from a fellow named Bruce K Smith with a Seattle address. He bought it from a lady in Seattle named Julie Ann Pattison in 1990. It is "thought" that she was the original owner who recieved the car as a HS Graduation present. Good story, if it's true. I have a registration slip where she bought vanity plates for the car in 1984 with the tag listed as "64BOO". That's where my paper trail ends. :(
The car still has one of the original NCOA stickers in the rear window so someone back there had more than a passing interest in Chevelles. So....do any of you guys recognize any of these names from the 80's and 90's???? Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, if you want to see the car, click the link in my sig. ;)
RAMBO Jun 18th, 09, 12:09 PM i just googled "julie pattison seattle"
and the first hit is a dr- Might be worth a try- call the office and leave a message and ask if she used to own a 1964 Chevy malibu... say you are trying to track down the owner history.
Might get a call back! I know i was thrilled to talk to the original owner of my car!

RAMBO Jun 18th, 09, 12:10 PM Just noticed... the second hit is a heathgrades site:
Links: Rate Doctor, Free Profile, Hospital Affiliations, Patient Feedback
Physician Name: Julie A. Pattison
Year Joined Practice: 1989
Gender: Female
JULIE -A- Pattison..... Getting close- wonder if the a stands for Ann
Give er a call!
djw Jun 18th, 09, 12:52 PM Interesting info, Ben. The guy I bought it from said he thought she was a doctor.
If she's about 62 years old, we might have a winner. If not, maybe she can tell me who she bought it from.
Does anyone remember the Bruce Smith name? I'm thinking he was the one who put the NCOA sticker on the car.
RAMBO Jun 18th, 09, 12:54 PM For some reason i'm thinking that name sounds familiar... There used to be a Classic Car dealership in Snohimish called Classic Auto World. I want to say the name might be associated with that dealer, but i could be wrong.
djw Jun 18th, 09, 12:56 PM Just looked at her bio....if it's her. She completed med school in the early 80's so she can't be the original owner. But, it's a lead anyway. :)

Could have been her parents car, or a grandparents car. Med school in the 80's would have meant highschool in the mid 70's- prerfect time for a 64 malibu to become a kid car.
Giver a call! :D

Yep! An MD needs 8 years of college, I think I would've needed around 10 or 11 though...
This oughtta be interesting. A call to a doctor in Seattle from a complete stranger in Arkansas asking about a car. :D:D:D
I'll post again after we talk.....if she calls back. ;)
OK. The call is made. Now I wait............
kettbo Jun 18th, 09, 1:33 PM Interesting thread!
Following any lead, even cold calling, beats not ever trying!

I hate waiting! :D
Dave Jun 18th, 09, 1:41 PM For some reason, Scott Stead sounds really familiar.
FRYNTYR Jun 18th, 09, 1:42 PM This is cool!!!!!!!!!!!! It's like I'm watching "COLD CASE"
RAMBO Jun 18th, 09, 1:45 PM 1984 is the year that washington state switched to the reflective licenense plates- prior to that, people kept the original plates on the car, with new tabs every year even if they changed owners.
That year all cars were required to get new license plates with the reflective paint on them... So that could be why that is the year she registered the personalized plate.
(I found out all this when i was trying to register my cars original plates... last tabs on them were 1984- which corresponded to what i'd read and been told)

With a lead pipe in the.......
She called me back. Really nice person, but has only lived in Seattle since 1989. Said she had a Nova and a Vega at one time, but no Chevelle. :)
I may be at a dead-end here unless someone else has a lead. Maybe the Bruce K. Smith guy. His address was on Ashworth Pl N in Seattle.
RAMBO Jun 18th, 09, 6:05 PM Doh! oh well, it was exciting for about an hour thinking you were close!
Jeffry72 Jun 23rd, 09, 12:18 PM I wanted to get this to the top of the list in case someone hasn't seen it yet.
Danny, Isn't there a possibility that the car came to the Seattle area from somewhere else about the time it got the vanity plates?
ehjorten Jun 23rd, 09, 12:57 PM Three numbers listed for a Bruce Smith in Seattle...(206) 547-0778, (206) 695-2383, and (206) 362-0097. One listing for a Bruce K. Smith in Snohomish: (360) 568-1129.

I'm sure that's possible, Jeffry. But Ben's post above about everyone having to renew plates in 1984 led me to hope she had the car before that time.
Wish someone could trace the VIN history with the state DMV for me. Anyone have a friend there? :D
