Hi, I'm planing to upgrade my 8.2 rear end for 'light' drag racing.
I know it would be better to find a 8.5 but in France finding it is like finding underwear on Paris Hilton.
So I planed to replace axle with moser, put a 3.55 richmond ring and pinion instead of my factory 3.36 and an aluminiun cover with preload stud, I already have auburn limited slip.
I know some member are in the parts business so I prefer deal with them instead of summit if prices range are near the same and they're able to ship overseas by USPS.
All advice about brand and tips to strentening this weak unit are welcome.

Laurent.

Do you think you will find much difference from 3.36 to 3.55? Going aftermarket axles is a great idea,,

Dave,
3.55 vs 3.36 will not drasticly improve my ET for sure but as I will change R/P set 3.55 seems to be a good compromise for street strip use.

i have 3.55's in my 8.2. they are nice in town and on the highway they are not too bad. with a 26" tall rear tire i am running about 3k rpms at 65mph (which is what roughly 90kmh?)

if its not a race car, and more street. you will like them.
i went from 3.23's to 3.42's in my trans am and it made the car so much more fun to drive.

i went from 3.08 to 3.55 in the chevelle, but changed other things too so i cant say what made the most improvement.

what transmission are you running?

I'm running a M20 behind a 460 with 26" tire too, it is already fun to drive from driving in town in 3rd at 15 mph with no trouble to hitting 6000 rpm and smoke the tire.
My choice is more for strip cause I cross the 1/4 line just after shifting in 4th so I would see if things are better with higher ratio and if not I could always put taller tire.

I can get the parts for you. I'm a Moser dealer and I have shipped over seas many times. Send me an email at biggearhead@bellsouth.net and I'll get prices for you.
