I am replacing the front suspension in my 66 malibu. I am planning on putting in the rubber bushings. The car mainly is a cruiser and occasional strip trip. I was thinking I did'nt really need the polygraphite bushings. I will be replacing pretty much everything up front and get upper rear control arms for the rear. Probably sway bars too? What is your guys advice on this project. I here the ply ends up squeaking and and makes the ride stiff. I am not worried about handling all that much as it is mainly a straight line car and cruiser.

IMO, your thinking about going with rubber is correct. If was good enough for the General when your car was made...it'll be fine now. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I'm not sure if its true, but I've heard most of the new rubber kits only last about 5 years before they start to break down... I'm on 4 years on mine from PST and haven't noticed it yet.

If I could do it again, I would have spent the money for polygraphite on my car. Handling is a concern for me, as I drive the heck out of my car.

The labor savings alone will make Polyurethane worthwhile. Put the bushings in yourself, no press or special tools needed (other than a cheap propane torch and a wire cup brush for your drill.)

Unlike rubber, you can torque the suspension bolts with the suspension in any position. Have fun swinging the torque wrench with the weight on the suspension like you have to do with rubber bushings.

And, you won't have to do it again on that vehicle.

Thanks all for the help! A buddy is going to come over and help me with it and I am still juggling my choice.
